Images and Their Tones in “Incident”

In this specific essay, you will analyze the different images and their tones in the poem “Incident” by Natasha Trethewey. The essay will consist of an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion that analyzes the different images presented in the short poem. By images, I am referring to the different lines in the poem: (At the cross trussed like a Christmas tree,
a few men gathered, white as angels in their gowns.) The introduction should introduce the poem, the writer, and touch on the different tones that were analyzed from the images in “Incident.” Each of the three body paragraphs should consist of two images, and details to support the tone of those images. Finally, there should be a conclusion that briefly explains the different tones discussed in the essay, and conclude the poem “Incident” Unlike other essays, this isn’t a research paper so no outside sources should be used other than the poem itself, but you do not need to cite it in the text when you refer to it.
