Hi,
This is more of a reflective essay to write about an impactful experience that they had to overcome to make this person a strong candidate. The essay can be upto 750 Characters but not more than that including spaces. I have just brainstromed the essay. You have to rewrite it and make it more focused. Please let me know if you have any questions.
A month before I was scheduled to my step 1 exam, I had to go through what I call would be one of the most challenging period of my life during the pandemic in the beginning of 2021 when my aunt took her last breath over a video call due to covid. She was a mother figure to me. She basically took care of my when I was growing up in India from taking me to school every day to making sure I had food on the table to eat every day. She still lived in a small town in India where healthcare is scarce. As she continued to suffer from covid there were no hospital beds available that would take her in. So everyone in my entire family had no choice but watched as she died. I’ve never felt so helpless in my life. It felt as though my whole life shattered in front of me. I was in shock for a few days. All while my family was suffering form covid as well. But the only difference was we had access to healthcare here, but she did not. It was the first time In my life I watched someone die in front of me who I loved so dearly. I couldn’t stop thinking how it could have been very well prevented only if she had the same access to healthcare to healthcare that we did here at that time. Once my family recovered from covid I had to put myself together and study for my step 1 and take my exam. That whole experience is something I had never expected to happen specially during the time I was studying to take my step 1. But I was able to adapt and overcome it while further solidifying my desire to be a physician to close the health disparities within our community.
