Please write an essay, 3-4 pages in length, in which you:

Drawing from and citing our readings, define cultural oppression in your own words.
Describe at least one form of cultural oppression as it relates to the master status you chose. For example, if you chose gender, you might explore how a common cultural belief reinforces or normalizes patriarchy.
Drawing from and citing our readings, define institutional oppression in your own words.
Describe at least one form of institutional oppression as it relates to the master status you chose. For example, if you chose race, you might explore how a specific institution reinforces racial inequality.
Address the following question: In an effort to create a more equal society, would it be more effective to prioritize cultural or institutional change? Please identify one example of what this might look like.
