Prompt 1: In both Shakespeare and the religious poets (Donne and Herbert), what views do the poets express regarding the nature of true love/faith? Compare Shakespeare and ONE of the religious poets we read. These poets take a very real, and serious analysis of their subject matter. What tools (metaphor, simile, imagery, etc.) do they use to illustrate their point? How are these poems still relevant today?
Prompt 2: What did we discuss is the “plight of modern man”? Do you agree or disagree with this assessment? I encourage you to pull from your own worldview and give personal examples and/or observations that you may have.
