In preparing for your term paper or video essay (which is due Dec 17), you will compile an
annotated bibliography in which you consider at least two (2) potential scholarly sources, not
including The Oxford History of World Cinema or other course readings. If you are working
in a group for the video essay, each member of the group must turn in their own unique
annotated bibliography. (In other words, all your group members may not simple duplicate the
same 2 sources.)

At the top of your document, before the actual “annotated bibliography” (see below), please
provide 2-3 sentences describing your topic for the essay.

Please see http://guides.library.cornell.edu/annotatedbibliography for guidelines on creating an
annotated bibliography. Your citations should follow MLA format, with approx. 100-150 words
of commentary/evaluation for each of your potential sources.

For a guide to MLA citations, please see https://libguides.hofstra.edu/mla8

NOTE: The purpose of this assignment is to make sure that you get “on track” and start your
research early. As you continue working on your paper for the remainder of the semester, your
list of resources may change, and that is OK. This annotated bibliography is simply the first
major step towards the essay itself.
