Inequality is rampant throughout the criminal justice system

How does systemic inequality, such as related to race and class, shape the definition of crime, the practice of policing, the court system, and sentencing and punishment? How do functions of criminal justice processes–such as the definition and image we have of crime and the ‘criminal’, police culture and discretion, plea bargaining and prosecutorial power, and sentencing and punishment–create systemic inequality in the system?
