1. write an outline for Informative Culture Speech
2. write the script for informative Culture Speech
The purpose of this assignment is to inform the audience about a culture other than your own. You may choose a culture or a subculture but it must be a current, modern-day culture. Through your information, explanation, and examples, the audience should gain insight into the uniqueness of the culture and its people. Remember: the focus is a culture not on the geography or history of a country or group. Your speech should not make judgments of the culture, but rather, be an objective study.
You should first select a culture/subculture to focus on and then select a focus topic/ area of interest within that culture. If a smaller subculture is used, it may be unnecessary to narrow it to one area of focus. DON’T TRY TO COVER TOO MUCH IN YOUR SPEECH. FOCUS THE TOPIC. A SUBCULTURE WILL PROBABLY MAKE A BETTER TOPIC THAN A MAJOR CULTURAL GROUP.
You will perform research on this topic including interviews, library research, and media analysis.
Sources: You should use at least 3 reliable sources to gather your supporting material. At least one source must come from the college library databases.
Supporting material: You should have at least three different types of supporting material: definition, example, statistics, analogies, anecdotes, quotation/testimony.
You should include at least two visual aids to incorporate into your speech content. This includes PowerPoint, picture, graph, etc. You can use video with a limit of 30 seconds to one minute MAX, in proportion to the length of your speech.
