A reflection on the communication in a relationship with a non-family member such as a friend or coworker.
This paper is about looking at the social relationships that we acquire throughout our lives – friendships, professional relationships, etc. These are the social bonds that become a part of our lives through the development of our individual journey. Again while some friendships can become like family, such as life-long friends, they also have their own dynamic due to the lack of genetic ties and legal bonds that come with our families of origin and life-long partnerships.
Also some of these relationships develop in our lives due to other aspects of our human social interactions, such as our professional relationships with co-workers, that play their role in the collaborative and task-oriented part of our life’s journey. These are not relationships created for emotional connection but are important in our self-actualization in our chosen career paths.
Choose one social relationship to reflect on in the paper.
Once you have chosen your specific relationship then you will look into the following about the communication in that relationship:
1) The actual amount of communication. How often do you communicate with that person – daily, weekly, etc.
2) What are the different types of communication do you have with them – face-to-face, phone, email, social media, etc.
3) How does the communication maintain the relationship and play a part in its development.
4) How do you see them as part of your life and the relationship through this reflection of the communication you have.
The paper is one-to-two pages in length and is a reflection essay so no formal MLA formatting required. Simple MLA formatting of double-space and margins is required.
