Interview with a Mental Health Professional

you will submit a 5-6 written account of an interview with a mental health professional, reflection on the experience, and analysis of course topics as related to your experience. To ensure that you the support ideas you present in the paper with evidence from course resources and additional scholarly sources, you are required to include at least 3 scholarly sources. The entire paper must conform to the specification of the American Psychological Association (APA) Style Manual. Remember that this is an academic paper that must be in essay format. Do not just type the questions and responses of the interview. Lastly, remember to include an introduction that provides a thesis statement outlining the content of the paper along with a conclusion that provides a recap and key “takeaways”.

Identify the classes and/or trainings the mental health professional had to take to strengthen his/her knowledge of addiction.
Describe the mental health professional’s experience working with adults and youth that misuse substances.
Describe the mental health professional’s typical workday.
Identify the mental health professional’s role in crisis intervention.
Describe the mental health professional’s most rewarding and most challenging part of his/her work.
Analyze your experience. Specifically,
Discuss your thoughts and feelings related to the agency, clientele, and type of work of the mental health professional you interviewed.
Discuss the skills and knowledge needed to become a competent professional practitioner who works with people with substance use disorders.
Identify the steps that can be taken to develop the expertise needed to provide services to people with substance use disorders.
