Invasive species as you have learned are a dominant force of change and disruption and have extensive ecological and economic impacts…. in other words they affect the lives of everyone regardless of where they live. To help you understand why invasive species are such a critical issue in our world today you will select a species that is invasive to US rangelands and write a short (2 – 3 page, double spaced) page paper covering the following:
the life strategies (reproduction, competitive strategies ) of the species
the origins (how did it come to be invasive in the US)
the distribution and rate of spread of the species (probably accompanied by a map)
the ecological and economic impacts of the species
the management of the species (how are its populations reduced or managed?)
