The Review of Literature assignment will be submitted using the following sections as a guide and be evaluated on depth, clarity, focus, and organization, etc. Keep in mind the topic chosen for this assignment must relate to the graduate degree you are getting.
I. Research Topic = The title should be no more than 10-12 words that identifies the area(s) to be researched.
II. Related Literature Review = Will be 10-12 pages in length and provides specific details and summarizes information you found in the literature that relates to your research topic.
III. References = You will need at least ten (10) properly cited references on a separate page and from a variety of research related journals (not all 10 from the same journal) you used to gather information for the literature review. No reference older than 2010 should be used.
FORMAT to follow when submitting the Review of Literature Assignment
Title Page
The title page will include your research topic, your name, the title of the course, and the date submitted.
The body of the Review of Literature should include:
Introduction
The introduction is 1-3 pages in length and informs the reader about your research topic. The last couple of sentences will state the purpose of your research. Do NOT include your thoughts, opinions or ideas in this part of your review of literature. ONLY include information found in the literature and the references used.
Topic related section(s)
The heading(s) of this part of your Review of Literature will depend on your research topic title and should be 2-4 pages in length. The information located in this section goes into more detail and more depth about your research topic than that used in the introduction and must be referenced.
Summary
The summary should be ½ to 1 page long and ties together the literature you found about your topic and should attempt to reinforce the purpose of your research topic. Using referenced information in the summary is optional and it is okay to also include your own thoughts, opinions, and ideas about your research topic in the summary.
References
The 10 (or more) references should be in APA format and are on the last page of the Review of Literature.
