MY RESEARCH TOPIC:
Research Question: Is mass media communication affecting the way we think or the way we see things?
We are living in an era where we use mass media almost 24/7, It is at the tip of our fingerprints. Since we are exposed to mass media on a daily basis. It can sometimes be hard to not be influenced by mass media, we might think that mass media doesn’t affect us. but I believe it can affect the way we think. For example on social media we follow pages, such as social media influencers, brands, celebrities, networks, news pages, friends, etc. We follow them because we want to know what is trending or what is happening around the world. We are currently living in an era where communication can be done through a post, whether it’s a picture, video, or a thought(tweet), it can change the way we think. That’s why big corporations, political parties, and influencers spend millions of dollars through mass media because they can manipulate the way we think.
I have two chapters in mind that I think will help me with my research paper. One of them would be groupthink and cultural studies. I feel that these two chapters will help with my topic because both of these chapters talk about how one can be easily manipulated or change the way we think.
Overview
This assignment will provide students an opportunity to receive feedback on their Communication Research Paper Drafts to support them expanding into the final version as well as to offer feedback on one of their peer’s papers.
Specific Requirements
Your draft should be 4-5 pages, and include all of the following minimum requirements:
A well developed introduction that includes:
a brief intro to the topic and research question (e.g. How can Aristotle’s rhetoric help with having more people involved in environmental advocacy campaigns?)
a clear thesis statement that answers/addresses your research question (e.g. an argument for how the communication theory is relevant in this instance: A better understanding of Aristotle’s persuasive appeals will help environmental advocacy groups effect more lasting change.)
preview of the paper
bonus for an attention-getting opening sentence or two
A body section that includes the following sections (please use section headers in your draft):
Overview: Provide an overview and background of the topic/issue of the paper and how it intersects with democracy, diversity, globalization and/or technology;
Relevant Theories: This section should include an explanation of the Communication theory or theories from the textbook that you chose to assist in addressing the problem and how they specifically relate to the issue (i.e., why the particular theory is helpful in exploring the specific topic);
Literature Review: Synthesize/summarize the articles you read in relation to the problem you are working on, including their strengths as well as any limitations in addressing the problem. Please note that this should not simply be the summaries from your annotated bibliography. In this lit review, you should demonstrate the connections between the articles as well as any significant differences. This draft should incorporate at least two of your four required sources cited in correct APA format.
Reference list in APA format.
PLEASE NOTE: The following are not required in this draft; however, you may include initial thoughts if you like so you can receive feedback on your ideas:
Applications: Description of how you could apply your new understanding of this theory to your problem and the likely results.
Recommendations: Provide your thoughts on next steps and future research into the topic area (i.e. describe what you would do next based on your own personal/professional goals)
A conclusion that includes a summary, restatement of your thesis, and final thoughts.
Drafts should be between four and six pages, not including the reference list. Once uploaded, all students will automatically be assigned one of their peers’ papers to critique (see separate instructions).

Suggestion for structure
Body
These could guide the format/organization of your paper. For your draft, start adding content to these points. Keep the headings for now to help the peer-reviewer following your train of thought.
the problem you hope to address and how it intersects with democracy, diversity, globalization and/or technology,
the theory/theories you think will help,
each of the articles you read, including their strengths and limitations in as much as they illuminate your own project,
how you would apply your newfound understanding of this theory to your problem,
what you think might result from taking your approach
where you think you’d take this project next. (for example, in terms of your own research agenda or personal/professional application) given time, money, energy, etc.
