Synthesis Essay
In this essay, you will formulate an informed position on recycling based upon previous readings. You will develop a short argument using logic and other appeals. You will synthesize sources to defend your own position through paraphrase, summaries, or quotes, and you will document your sources using MLA style.
Instructions:
Read and review the articles on recycling. Those articles include “The Reign of Recycling” (p.66), “It’s Time to Phase Out Single-Use Plastic (p.71), “Waste Not…?” (p. 76) and “We Are So Forked (p.80).
After evaluating the articles and developing your own perspective on recycling, use the information from the articles to help you argue your point about recycling. More specifically, you will compose an arguable thesis about recycling, but you will use the support of two articles to lend credibility to your claim. According to the synthesis concept described in Practical Argument between pages 325-327, you can “combine summary, paraphrase, and quotation from several sources with your own ideas to support an original conclusion” (325). In a nutshell, that is your goal for this new paper assignment.
