Find a popular or academic article whose thesis gives you a strong emotional reaction (e.g. anger, excitement, depression, etc.) and which is debatable (i.e. you can imagine someone reasonably disagreeing with the author).
Example: The Olympic Games are a net negative to humanity.
Paraphrase 3 of the most interesting points (whether you not you agree with them) in the form of full sentences.
Example: Countless vulnerable people are displaced just to make room
for silly games to be played in new arenas.
For each of these 3 points, try to discern a general principle grounding it.
Example: Human existence is more valuable than human enjoyment.
Rephrase each of these 3 principles as a philosophical question (which, in later essay sections, you will pose to 3 of the course authors):
Example: Is the existence of all always is more valuable than the enjoyment of some?
As you complete these steps, show your work by writing out some of your thought process before stating your 3 philosophical questions at the very end.
