The purpose of this assignment is to have you see the beauty and significance in the religions that we discuss as we work to understand and remove biases of that religion. This assignment will be done in essay form. That means that if you think you can do this assignment in one page, it will have a very negative affect on your grade. in because your grade will not be good. It is imperative that I maintain a balance in this class and therefore the other two written assignments will be done in like manner. I expect your best scholarly writing. All assignments are to be turned in on time.
Look for the beauty in these religions! This will be the same format used for the assignments on Judaism and Islam. Please let me see it!
You have been called upon to address the United States Senate. The reason for your being called to the Senate is to convince them on adopting Islam as the religion of the State. You have to make a well informed and educated representation on this religion and the practice of it. However, you cannot interject anything negative. If you are negative or biased, it will be reflected in your grade.
You must have included in your presentation,
1. How did this religion begin?
2. Tell us about the life of the Prophet Muhammad.
3. What are the central teachings of the Muslim religion?
4. What is the Quran and what are its teachings?
5. What are some of the sacred practices?
6. Who are the Sunnis and the Shi’a? Explain the differences in these groups.
7. If the people that practiced this religion were true to this religion, what impact could it have on the world?
