Writing Prompt: In the selection from Ong’s Orality and Literacy, Ong presents Parry’s theory about Homeric poetry while summarizing the research that led up to the theory and came out of it.
IN YOUR OWN WORDS, what was Parry’s theory AND how does it contradict our modern sense (that is the sense of a society that uses writing, one that is literate) of how literature and wisdom is and should be presented, made, and shared.
