The Paper:
Students will choose a person of interest. This person may include a famous actor or actress, a serial killer, a career criminal, or a historical figure. Professor approval is required for the “person of interest”.
Students will determine the stages of development by researchers such as Piaget, Erickson, or Freud. Students may choose any researcher from the text.
Students will examine their “person of interest” and report on each stage of development. (see explanation video)
Students will then research which stage of development effected the “person of interest” and how their life outcome resulted from this change. For example: Jeffrey Dahmer was subjected to an abusive father and learned to destroy bones at the age of twelve. Determine which stage of development was altered and why? Choose your researcher. Students must compile information from research to determine each stage of the development and then finalize the submission with the most effected stage and explain how and why this altered the “person of interests” life.
The paper is APA format, no less than six pages, double-spaced with a title and reference page. (see video)
All papers written in a format other than APA will receive a 25-point deduction.
Three empirical research articles, the text and YouTube video are required.
Websites are not considered reliable sources. Each website is a 10-point deduction unless prior approval is received.
The assignment itself will focus on information literacy (the ability and willingness to locate and appropriately utilize relevant, scholarly sources to form an opinion on an issue) and critical argument (the ability and willingness to objectively articulate well-reasoned and adequately researched opinions.
