Killers of The Flower Moon

In general, we often think about the United States as an open society–one in which there is a large degree of social mobility– but that was not necessarily true for the Osage. Instead, Killer’s of the Flower Moon suggest that parts of the United States operated more like a closed society. The Encyclopedia Britannica defines a closed society as “one in which an individual’s role and function can theoretically never ben changes, as in the traditional Hindu caste system.” Write a 2-3 page essay in which you highlight the ways in which the United States functioned as a closed society between 1900 and 1930.
Your essay should begin with an introduction in which you explain the context for your essay. It should end with a thesis statement in which you set up your argument for the rest of the essay. (Your thesis should answer the question–In what instances did the United State operate as a closed society? Or: How were some Americans prevented from having social mobility?)
Each body paragraph should begin with a topic sentence that present one, unified idea which the rest of the paragraph attempts to prove using evidence from your readings and lecture notes. Furthermore, each body paragraph should contain at least two citations. These citations may come from either Killers of the Flower Moon or the primary sources that you identified as being useful in answering the prompt.
Finally, your essay should end with a conclusion in which you summarize the major points of your argument.
