To help you brainstorm a possible topic for your annotated bibliography and eventual research essay, I would like each of you to find one article on a labor-related issue that you think deserves more exploration. Your post should provide a link to the article and beneath it a summary of its contents. Then explain why this issue is of interest to you. Students will not be required to comment on their peers’ posts this time, though that does not mean you aren’t allowed to—just keep in mind that all discussion should be considerate and civil.
Now, should you later decide this is not the topic you want to pursue, that is perfectly fine. I will not hold you to it and comment on your final paper, “What happened to the other topic?!?!” Again, this is just a brainstorming activity. Also, to get the ball rolling, I have included a brief list of topics previously covered by students in this course. You are not required to choose a topic from this list, it is merely here to provide examples for those of you who are still undecided.

What are your thoughts on vocational training in formal education? Did you attend a vocational high school? Maybe you took just a couple courses in community college? If you did, why? How has it impacted the way you understand work and/or education? If you didn’t, what would you have liked to learn and why?
