Introduction and Literature Review
The main purpose of the introduction is to provide the necessary background or context for your research problem.
Incorporate the review of literature. The review demonstrates your knowledge and understanding of the theoretical and research issues related to your research question. Critically evaluate and synthesize the existing literature.
Statement of the problem. The purpose of this study is to ….. or you may state it in a question format.
Research hypotheses. State your hypotheses if any.
Significance of the study. Will this study generate new knowledge? Will the study benefit patients, advance understanding or influence policy? Will the study fill gaps in existing knowledge?
Research Methods
Study design. Describe your study design.
Subjects. Inclusion/exclusion criteria/ Sampling /Recruitment plans /Method of assignment to study groups.
Setting. Describe the units or clinics/sites where you plan to conduct the study.
Data collection. Measures/instruments. Procedures. Intervention
Analysis of Data. How your data will be organized and analyzed. Statistical considerations, etc.
Ethical Considerations
Consent form, privacy of information, etc.
