To participate in this forum, you should ensure that you have viewed the lecture recordings about topics related to land (esp. Recording 12.2, and 13.1) and done the required readings from Weeks 12 and 13 (esp. Chapters 24 and 26 of Hageman and Jobin/Riddle (2019)). Then, please respond to the topic I have posted in this forum. The deadline to complete this assignment is Friday, November 26th before midnight MT.
The forum format is a little bit different this time. This is a single simple discussion forum, meaning that there is a single thread to which everyone can reply. You may share a unique thought or opinion and/or reply to another student’s post. Keep in mind that other students will be able to view your post. Tip: Choose to view the replies in nested form.
This is the fourth of four forums in this course. Your assignment is to participate in three out of four forum discussions. (That means that you may opt out of this forum discussion if you have already satisfied the requirement.) Each forum is worth up to five points for a total of 15% of your final grade in the course. For more guidance about how to make a meaningful forum contribution, please refer to the Course Guidelines page. Please continue to keep your dialogue respectful.

Discussion Topic
By now, you have read some differing viewpoints about the First Nations Land Management Regime. Please explain what you perceive to be the most important considerations for First Nations debating whether to develop a land code and opt into the legislation. How might the FNLMA affect economic outcomes? Social outcomes? Are there certain conditions within which the FNLMA would be optimal? Please explain and support your answer using references from the course and from your outside reading on the topic.
*Note that you may receive credit for posting a unique response or replying to another student’s response, as long as your reply is substantive and well-supported. Respectful debate is encouraged but please keep the tone courteous. You will not receive credit for simply repeating what another student has already written.*
