Language Development

In one of my videos, I touched on the development of pragmatics (the use of language to convey certain meaning). Let’s discuss this issue a little bit more. I suggest two topics for this discussion, (1) pragmatics in the context of electronic communication or (2) pragmatics of expression of romantic attraction. Feel free to choose one or both to make your original post. For example, you can answer the question if there pragmatic rules in texting and other forms of electronic communication? Please give at least one example of the pragmatic rules. Or, what are the “pragmatics” of verbal and, perhaps, non-verbal, communication of attraction? You can make a post about what happens when/why miscommunication/misunderstanding occurs due to the misuse or failure to apply appropriate pragmatic rules.
