Write a complete incident report on a drunk driving arrest using the videos and instructions presented in CANVAS.

Grading will be based on proper formatting, a detailed and complete investgation written academically using proper grammar, paragraphing, sentence structure, and spelling. Accurately and completely documen!ng the details from the scenario presented in the videos. (Don’t make up your own details – you are being assessed on how accurately you record and document the incident as depicted in the videos.) The report must meet the required 2 pages of single-spaced typing not including the box of informa!on/header on Page 1. You must have 2 pages of typed narrative as a minimum. Write this as though you are the officer driving in the video and the officer conduc!ng the on-scene investgation.

Write it in first person – I observed; I asked; I arrested……
You are working for the Jupiter Police Department in Florida.
You will need to add vehicle and suspect information in the header. Make that informa!on up. Make sure you don’t forget a full descrip!on of the driver in the header.
SOURCE:
I was running stationary radar on northbound 1st south of Main Street when I observed the listed vehicle approach my position. The vehicle was northbound on 1st and was weaving back and forth in its lane as it approached. I ac!vated my lights and siren in an a”empt to catch up and stop the vehicle.

The vehicle was proceeding just below the posted speed limit of 35 MPH. The vehicle did not slow down, speed up, or stop; it con!nued driving.
Here you will summarize your observa!ons of the driving up un!l the point of the stop. You may make up the names of the streets the suspect vehicle drove on. Every detail of the suspect’s driving and your observations must be included.

The vehicle eventually pulled over and came to a stop in front of 1234 Bay Street.
OBSERVATIONS/ACTIONS:

Your initial observations should include the following points that will need to be wri”en academically and placed in the narrative: Indicate you had the driver turn off the car and hand you the keys. (Make the scene safe.)

Indicate you inquired as to whether or not the driver was injured, experiencing a medical emergency or needed any medical a”en!on and he stated he was not injured, having a medical emergency, and did not need medical attention. (Address medical needs and injuries.)
The driver’s speech was very slurred and hard to understand.
When asked for his driver’s license, he at first handed you a credit card.
When you explained that he handed you a credit card instead of his license, indicate the driver tried finding his license in his wallet, but dropped his wallet onto the floor of the car and the contents spilled out all over the floor. Indicate he could not locate his license.
Indicate he told you he did not know you were trying to get him to stop. Indicate he stated he was just trying to get out of your way because he thought you were a&er someone else.

Interview of Suspect John Doe:
Use the video to enter the details of the on-scene investigation conducted by you, the officer. Again, write this in first person, as if you are the officer in the video. Be detailed and exact – don’t generalize.
Write in past tense, not present tense.
When it comes !me in the report to indicate you arrested the driver, make sure you include a short summary paragraph in your narrative summarizing your probable cause for making the arrest. Make sure you include what you arrested him for.
Once you have placed the suspect under arrest, use the following to con!nue your inves!ga!on:
Officer Smith arrived on-scene and transported the suspect to the jail.
Explain how you completed your on-scene investigation.

Think about what you would do. Would you take photos? If so, make sure you document taking those photos and indicate what you photographed. Indicate what you did with those photos.
Before you depart, indicate you impounded the car, conducted an impound search of it first and found nothing of significance, and then turned the car over to the county’s towing company: Bell Towing.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Here, indicate you proceeded to the jail, read the suspect his breathalyzer rights and he agreed to take the test. Indicate a result over .08. Then indicate he was housed pending arraignment.
