Leadership Matrix

Leadership Theory Matrix Assignment – 25% grade total (50 pts total) This assignment is designed to help the students build a taxonomy of leadership theory that can serve them throughout their leadership life. Select 6 theories from the course text and one additional theory from an outside source (i.e. Self-leadership, Connective Leadership, etc.), for a total of 7 theories. A template will be posted on Blackboard for you to follow. For each theory you will be asked to give a summary, purported strengths, and personal remarks.

I have created and attached a Leadership Theory Matrix Template for your convenience. I would like for you to select 6 theories from the Northouse Leadership and Theory 7e textbook. The matrix will include the name of the theory in one column (i.e Transformational Leadership), an explanation of the theory in one column, and your personal remarks about the theory in another column. Include a 7th from outside the textbook.

Explanation of the Theory

Please summarize in your own words what the theory posits. The summary for each theory should be between 300-400 words (more words does not secure a better grade). I am looking for the ability to accurately and succinctly state the leadership concept. ACCURACY WITH BREVITY.

Personal Remarks of the Theory
Your personal remarks can include what you think about the theory (like or dislike), an example of the theory from your experience, or a situation in which you think the theory would fit. Your personal remarks should be limited to 100-200 words.

Please do not stress about this project. I have created this assignment because I believe it and the Reflective Leadership Essay will provide lasting value from this class. I would not expect you to remember all of the theories from our textbook but it is my hope that you would find two or three that help shape your perspective on leadership. If you ever have to write an article for a trade magazine, company newsletter, or company-wide communique, you will find this project to be a rich resource! Submit the assignment on Blackboard.
