In the Unit 1 and Unit 2 resources from Gyekye, Popper, Williamson, Holmes, and others, we have explored ideas and values that are descriptive (what there is) and prescriptive (what there “ought” or “should” be) of societies. We have found that societies are complex human structures that include physical objects, ideas, and values, which are tied to webs of historical, cultural, kinship, and non-kinship relationships.
In 3–4 pages, compare two ideas, values, and/or issues you consider important for a good society and describe their connection and/or impact for at least one modern societal problem.
Comparisons may include: similarities and differences of importance, impact, influence; conflicts or advancements that arise from the ideas/values; practical applications for organizations, industries, regions or nations; and so on.
The essay should include at least 4 course readings/resources for evidential support and may also include additional sources from your research.
Examples of items to compare for the essay might include:

Democracy & Social Cohesion
Duty & Altruism
African Socialism & African Traditional Life (including religion)
Human Dignity & Wealth
Ruling power & Individual freedom
And so on
You will submit preliminary comparison ideas to your instructor and FI early in the term for feedback.
Given the short length of this essay, do not use extended block quotes. Short quotations from resources are acceptable, where needed to illustrate or support your ideas.
Include a cover page and properly formatted references page, which are not counted as part of the 3–4 pages.
