I‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌nstructions This written reflection, which includes two entries, is a record of your experiences putting key leadership and management topics into practice. Entry 1: Understanding the individual at work and enhancing performance (Minimum of 6 academic references required) In this portfolio entry you will be demonstrating your ability to form an accurate understanding of people and make recommendations for change. To do this, you will talk to someone to find out about his or her motivation and then use the concepts and ideas from to work out what sorts of things might increase or decrease the amount of effort the person puts into his or her work. Who they are as individual plays a role in this? You will also need to analyse the extent to which individual differences are influencing their motivation and performance. These differences would also inform whether your recommendations would be the most effective. Please use the following structure for your entry (approximately 1,200 words): do the interview with person that you work with A. Briefly describe the person you spoke to (healthcare employee). Describe his or her job and any other information that the reader will need to understand the rest of the entry (100 words). B. Using quotes to illustrate and substantiate your points, describe the person’s work motivation. Describe what the person said about the things that motivate or demotivate him or her at work. In this, there is no need to include any theories; they come in a later section (300 words) C. Using the content discuss the extent to which the individual’s demographics, abilities, perception, personality, and attitude influence their workplace motivation (300 words), motivational interview, The Big five personality model/test (OCEAN). D. In 500 words, using theories (Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, Motivation-hygeine theory) explain what sort of actions would: (i) increase the person’s motivation and, (ii) decrease the person’s motivation. E. References (Not part of word count). Use tables, charts, questionnaire, employee satisfaction survey …. Entry 2: Focusing on teamwork (minimum of 3 academic references required) In this portfolio entry you will perform diagnostic ‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌activities on your team (or another team in your organisation) to assess their current level of team performance and then make recommendations for improvement Survey your colleagues using the checklist. Collate the data and reflect on the results in your portfolio entry using the following structure (approximately 800 words). 1. Trust among members 1 2 3 4 5 2. Feedback mechanisms 1 2 3 4 5 3.
