Learning Goals

Self-Directed Learning Goals
Develop at least THREE learning goals to achieve prior to your midterm evaluation. Include a general
plan of how you will achieve these goals.
Goals should be SMART: specific, measureable, achievable, realistic, and timely.
Goals should be focused on overall practice such as time management, patient load, or
documentation, and should avoid small skills or tasks.

Guidelines for goal setting:
• goal should be focused on overall practice (i.e., connecting medication to patient’s disease
pathophysiology)
• goals must NOT be focused on skills or tasks
• goals must NOT be ‘to meet the objectives of the course as outlined in the course offering
