Chapter 1.1: Line, Shape, and the Principle of Contrast
For this assignment, you must analyze and discuss Figure 2.3.6 Hollywood Limousine from the Lost Angeles series by Stanley Donwood (see below and also in Chapter 2.3 Printmaking), as it applies to the visual elements of line and shape, and the principle of contrast listed below.

Choose three types of line, one type of shape, and one element of contrast (from choices below) that can be seen in the image above;
Specifically identify where each example of line, shape and contrast type are in the image and discuss how they is used in Figure 2.3.6. Each of the five will be worth 20% of your grade.

Example (for Figure 1.1.9): I have chosen to discuss how directional line is displayed in Figure 1.1.9. The image contains strong diagonal lines which explode out from the light area on the left side of the artwork. These black, diagonal, lines serve two purposes. The first purpose is that they lead our eye to the focal point of the artwork (the explosion). The second purpose is that the lines, being diagonal, communicate movement.
