Main idea of the essay is about the impact of early childhood education (Dr. Seuss reading week, book fairs, etc.) through reading and the ways in which it can foster a lifelong love of reading. It’s about MY experience.
It’s a reflective story, about my reading and identity. It’s how I experience reading and what it has meant to me on multiple levels.
My audience is my peers and instructors. What do they need to know?
Questions to keep in mind when writing: What are the key takeaways for my readers?, What has it meant to have reading throughout my life so far?, How has this shaped the person I am today?, Are there any connections to make- to writing, to other genres, to other passions (psychology, science, traveling)?
The narrative should be 7 pages long, double-spaced, 12-point font, one inch margins, and Times New Roman. Include all information in this order: Include a creative and specific title, Include MLA citation style (with optional outside sources that help MY personal literacy narrative).
Outline ideas for the structure of your narrative:
– Exposition: introduction, background, and setting
– Rising action: details that build toward the central conflict/idea/issue
– Conflict: main external event or internal conflict/idea/issue
– Falling action: details that build toward the resolution
– Resolution: closure, insight, and lesson gained
