literary analysis on 2 poems

Then, we begin our first essay, the literary analysis written in 3rd person and using MLA formatting. You will choose 2 poems to write about, bringing them together in an argument you create that allows your reader to understand your interpretation. Your draft is due on Feb. 7, the one-on-one meeting will occur Feb. 8-10, and your final essay is due Feb. 15.

A literary analysis is a type of essay that explores a text by interpreting its meaning. This is done by creating an argument about the work that expresses your own personal perspective, interpretation, judgment or critical evaluation of the text. However, this is not an opinion essay, either. You must back up your prespective with evidence from the poems and from research about the poems or the authors. A literary analysis is also not merely a summary of the poems. In a literary analysis, you will be making an argument. Remember that an argument essay thesis is set up like this: your topic + because + your reasons.
