For my Literary criticism paper, I will be writing about Alan Gratz “Prisoner B-3087”.
The Plot of The novel takes place in the 30’s and 40’s in Poland and other countries that started
to get invaded by Germany. A young jewish boy named Yankek is abducted by the invading Nazi
army. Throughout his teenage years he was placed into ten multiple concentration where he
witnesses suffering from all angles.
Death is all he witnessed throughout those years and in many moments almost faced it
first hand. For my paper I want to explore the elements of Morality and death. I want to focus on
the cruelty of what a human being can do to others but vice versa, the beauty that can be held in a
persons heart that shows kindness. This book represents the small light in the dark hallway. The
hope that lies within the mass evil around the world.
I will use famous works of others to compare, critique, and analyze the aspects of
philosophical morality for “Prisoner B-3087” The novel is also loosely based on a true story; so I
will be looking into interviews and accounts for relations to the novel and using it to get deeper
into the events that happened to the characters of the novel. Lastly, I the essay to end showing
how no matter how evil and corrupt the world can be. Even in the deepest and darkest of pits,
there is always redemption and hope for humanity
