Literature Review Matrix Guide
Purpose: The matrix is an organizing tool that assists with comparing / contrasting your research and
with the synthesizing process. By organizing your research in this format you can compare and contrast
study details, and clearly see commonalities and differences that emerge from the literature. These
commonalities can then become the headings in your literature review. Differences may also be used as
headings if you find them significant or they can be addressed in the Discussion section.
