You only have one page of a Literature Review here, with only two articles cited. There is no point to list 10 articles if you are not using them in the paper. In fact, it is plagiarism to do so. Make sure you take many more pages to summarize your articles, using 3-5 subheads to organize your themes that become your research questions. Each subhead section should utilize multiple references in it, summarizing patterns you see in the research findings so far, as well as gaps in the findings that your study seeks to fill. I suggest using the Mapping Articles template in the Additional Thesis Resources content folder. Print out 10 copies, one for each of your articles, and summarize each thoroughly, so you can include enough detail about them in your paper, in your own words. See example student theses in the content folders for guidance on how to do this. Your reference list is not in correct ASA format, or in any correct academic format, because I cannot see the title of the journals, so I can’t tell you if they’re Sociology journals or not. All that information should appear in the reference, not a weblink. You should have volume number, page numbers and the name of the journal. That is what should go in italics. The article titles themselves do not get italics, they get quote marks. Again, you can see the example student theses in the content folders or the ASA format resources in the Writing folder for how to do this. There should be no “pp” in the references, unless you are working with a chapter from an edited book. Journal article pages don’t need this. I look forward to your revisions.
Make sure you remove your research proposal sections (Proposed Methodology, Proposed Analysis Strategy and Timeline). This is no longer a proposal. What you planned is not what actually happened. This Lit Review draft is the one that will actually form the first half of your thesis when it is completed. The next section will be the Methodology, which will now be written in past tense, about what you did do, and due next week (Week 4, after Lit Rev due Week 3).
Make sure you have actual sociology journals in your list of references, and make sure they are in ASA format. See ASA format section and/or example student theses in Writing for Sociology folder. First names of authors are all spelled out! Years are not in parentheses! Quotation marks are around article titles. There are no commas between volume and page numbers, etc. And they should all use the same format.
Make sure your references listed in your reference listed are all cited in your paper. If not, remove them, or it’s plagiarism/misrepresentation. Also be sure any source cited is listed at the end. A 100% match between sources cited in paper and sources listed at end.
Make sure any direct quote citation includes a page number (and quote marks) and any citation without a direct quote does not include a page number. That’s either (Smith 2010:55) for a quote from page 55, or (Smith 2010) for a paraphrase without a quote. Simple enough!
