· Synthesize and summarize. A literature review IS NOT just a list of articles with summaries of those individual articles. Rather, it is a narrative that outlines the topic you are researching and provides an overall look at the previous research. · This section should:
Provide a chance for you to understand the existing research on or adjacent to your topic and share with your audience.
Include 1-2 communication theory(ies) that guide your research.
Flesh out the background of your study.
Critically assess important research trends or areas of interest.
Identify potential gaps in knowledge.
Establish a need for current and/or future research projects, including your own.
Synthesize and summarize the information.
While the focus should be on peer-reviewed literature, books, magazines, newspapers, and websites may also be included.
