Portfolio project assessment will be based on the following assignments:
I. Investment Policy Statement [5%]
Following the general guidelines above and examples published by CFA Institute prepare an investment
policy statement for your client. Your eventual portfolio construction should be based on this IPS.
II. Preliminary Portfolio Report [5%]
Using Stock Trak, create and identify the strategic asset allocation and initial asset selection for a portfolio
that would be suitable to achieve the requirement of your Investment Policy Statement. The value of the
portfolio should be at least 50% invested before the preliminary report and a reasonable number and mix of
investments should be reported and explained.
III. Final Portfolio Report [20%]
Critique the relative success of your initial portfolio in satisfying the goals and constraints of your Investment
Policy Statement. Provide an overall assessment for asset selection and relative asset weighting of your initial
positions. Provide a basic assessment of the relative contributions of market performance, currency
performance and stock selection. Comment on the effects of any commodity investments or derivative
