Phenomenon of interest
Yurinia and class, next week we are asked to identify two research studies that use the theory selected this week as a foundation. In finding research studies, we need to have selected a nursing theory in which the phenomenon of concern can be captured by concepts that are able to be operationalized or measured. This phenomenon must be able to be known through the senses rather than by thought or intuition and must be susceptible to scientific description and explanation (Moran & Burson, 2017).
It is important to determine the phenomenon of interest in a theory. One must be aware that in a theory, such as seen in Swanson’s Theory of Caring, caring, care, and providing nursing care are entirely different phenomenon.
What is the phenomenon of interest and as importantly, can the phenomenon of interest be measured?
Can we measure “caring?”
