Within your memo, including these four points below.
What are some of the CS related problems that need to be addressed within SJSU/ San Jose/ Santa Clara county? You may wish to consider individual, residential, and/or commercial perspectives.
What is one of the possible solutions? Note: you must find a source that addresses the problem, and then provide your own suggestion, making connection to the ideas in the source.
What will these potential problem-solution projects provide for the university, city of San Jose or Santa Clara county?
What are the ethical considerations that must be addressed before the completion of these projects?
Submission requirements
You will be writing a memo. Carefully follow ALL the directions below.
Remember the formatting elements of a memo (see example on p. 440 in BCT 15th ed.):
1. Heading ending with a complete, yet concise, Subject line
2. A 1-2 line Purpose that includes one or more strong verbs telling what your purpose in writing this memo is; this must be no more than one or two sentences. There should be NO heading for this section
3. Summary of approximately 4-5 lines. This is the same as an abstract. It is a concise explanation of what the memo will contain as well as mention of any findings. This section should end with the Thesis that you will prove in your Discussion
4. Background section as needed; this information can be given as part of your Summary or as the first paragraph of your discussion section with or without a subheading
5. Discussion section with Headings and Subheadings
6. Conclusion with specific recommendation(s), including ethical considerations
7. References list
Submit a 1 page (single spaced, 500-600 words) WORD doc or PDF to Canvas as other formats are unreadable; do not submit via Google as this frequently results in a failure for the submission to fully load successfully.
Memo should follow these criteria:
A strong and clear thesis statement at the end of your Summary/Background Information paragraph;
Discussion paragraphs that contain a topic sentence, connection to the memo topic, development of each main point, supporting and cited evidence to support your claim(s), re-connection of the evidence to your main point, as well as a concluding sentence (with transition if another main point paragraph follows);
APA-style in-text citations;
correct APA-style citations in the References;
correct grammar.
a final draft that has been proofread, revised, and edited
