Present
a research question on which to focus, review some relevant academic
literature, and consider ethical issues. Bear in mind that this assignment
involves only presenting a research question, reviewing literature, and
considering ethics; it is not a complete research proposal.

2: Annotated Bibliography – You will
construct an annotated bibliography for 5 articles related to your topic of
interest. An annotated bibliography contains relevant information about the
articles you are using to incorporate into your literature review. Each
citation of the article is followed by a brief descriptive and evaluative
paragraph, the annotation. The purpose of annotation is to inform the reader of
the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited.

3: Literature Review – The literature
review is a written review of a topic that will inform the reader about what is
already known about the topic and how your current study can contribute to
knowledge about the topic. The literature review is a critical component of the
research proposal because it shows your understanding of prior research and
your ability to assess relevant information in the literature. You will
integrate an analysis of 5 articles from your annotated bibliography into your
literature review.

4: Introduction – The introduction is
the first part of your research proposal. It informs the reader about the
overall topic related to your original research. The introduction sets the tone
for the relevance of the proposed study and integrates main ideas from previous
research related to your topic of interest.

5: Survey – You will create a 20-item
survey related to your overall topic. This is an opportunity to practice
developing a quantitative assessment.

6: Methodology – The methodology
section is your description of how data for your study will be collected,
instruments to collect data, and information about the participants involved
and how they will be selected for the study. It should give the reader enough information
to replicate the study.

7: Research Proposal – The research
proposal is a culmination of the individual assignments you have been working
on throughout the semester. The research proposal will include a revision of
your introduction, literature review and a methodology section, along with a
new section on your study’s proposed significance and imitations.
