Mission and value statement

Please try to identify a mission statement, philosophy, or values statement from your agency (health care setting), educational institution if you are not currently employed in a health care setting (you can discuss UMSL’s mission statement if interested). You could also explore an agency or school in your community, such as the YMCA, or the Boys Scouts of America.
Identify a key element from one of those mission statements or philosophies from an institution of your choice. Please provide an example of how you think they strive to exemplify that mission? For example, does the institution do community outreach if that is an identified component?

· What are some keywords identified in your selection?
· How do you think that those words could influence the approach to providing care for either or all of the following: communities, patients, students, employees, or those they serve? For example, religious-based institutions may use words such as “…..the healing presence of God” and that institution may hope that this influences the delivery of care, and spirituality may be a component within that institution. What about if you work for the Veterans Administration (VA) – is there something from their mission or philosophy that is apparent in the care provided? For example, does the institution have a community outreach component if that is identified as a value?Review the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses found in Readings and resources Part 2 of this module. There is a read-only copy (64 pages in length) from their website with interpretive statements for each of the 9 Provisions, and I also attached a copy of the 9 provisions for easy accessibility. There are 9 provisions – try to identify what each of those provisions suggests but you only need to provide an example of one. The YouTube video I have included in this module summarizes the provisions nicely.
Select one of the provisions and provide a brief example of how you demonstrated that provision in your workplace, academic setting, or community setting. Please state the provision and your brief example. No need to reply to your peers’ posts for this discussion but as always, please take advantage of the learning that takes place from viewing your peers’ posts.
