In a few paragraphs totaling ~ 400-600 words, please respond to the discussion prompts below. This exercise, like all ten region-focused discussion forums, is graded and worth up to 7/100 points. Thus in total, the 10 region-focused forums are worth 70/100 points. To earn full credit, you must also respond to at least one other students’ commentaries – the key thing is to engage in a constructive way with your knowledgeable classmates so we can all learn from each other!
Thoroughly review and then use relevant information from the course materials as you answer, and be sure to cite your sources. Non-course materials (including news/magazine stories and relevant personal experiences) can be used too but try to use a good balance of course materials and non-course materials, with an emphasis on course materials. If you happen to go over the expected word count, no penalties apply. The key thing, regardless of length of response, is to communicate well about what you’re learning, and help your fellow students learn too!

For this discussion, you will consider environmental degradation, uneven development, and global interconnections. Make sure to cite all of your sources
In which ways are uneven development and global interconnections visible along the 5,000 mile (8,000 km) route through South America that the two main characters of The Motorcyle Diaries pass through? Watch the full movie and track the characters’ broad route before responding. And briefly, did you hate/like/love/or ?? this particular ‘road trip’ movie?
Cite and briefly describe two examples of contemporary environmental degradation you encountered in the region via any of the module materials apart from The Motorcyle Diaries.
What are the causes of the environmental degradation you described? Are there multiple causes?
To what degree do connections between this region and other regions contribute to environmental degradation in the examples you chose?
