This is a written paper (20 – 25 pages) describing the evidence-based research for an early care and education program. The paper will describe 1) a brief history of the development of this program model, 2) how state and local policies or current legislative proposals support or impact this program, and how it is funded, 3) how this program fits within the universe of ECE programs including the target population, 4) service delivery and mezzo policy issues that arise in this setting, and 5) the evidence-based research that shows the value of the program. It will also include description and analysis of the program from the family and child’s perspectives, including access, assessment, eligibility criteria and potential impacts on the family and child/children. Each student will complete this assignment individually.
Supporting information. Students will locate at least ten articles out of current journals within a 2-year time frame that may be relevant to this analysis. They will provide complete citations and discuss the relevance of these articles to their understanding of the particular early childhood program they chose. If possible, students will interview staff and parents at their site about their impressions of the program. Incorporate the articles and interviews into the appropriate sections of the analysis.
Students will post a reference handout for their classmates to be used for the group assignment.
