Watch the film you’ve chosen to write about for your movie review assignment and take notes while you’re watching. Refer to the thesis statement worksheet and the close reading & analysis handout. Then write and submit a paragraph addressing the following:
1. Compose a brief analysis of how one of the major film elements (mise-en-scene, cinematography, editing, or sound) helps convey one the film’s main messages. Please note that you don’t need to include a discussion of the technical elements in your movie review itself (you might want to focus on other things like plot or dialogue). This is just to give you some practice at doing this kind of analysis.
