I. CHOOSING TWO MUSICIANS
One musician should be someone we have studied in the course and the other one someone whose style contrasts with the first musician. Here are some examples of interesting musician pairs:
James Brown (a soul pioneer) and Steve Reich (a classical minimalist composer)
Billie Holiday (one of the most famous jazz singers) and Bruce Springsteen (a current singer-songwriter)
Antonin Dvorak (a 19th century romantic Czech composer who wrote works inspired by American music) and John Adams (a contemporary composer who writes in a minimalist style)
Duke Ellington (great jazz band leader born in 1899) and Aaron Copland (great classical composer born in 1900.)
