After exploring some ideas related to “Why I Write” and the NDOW, think of 3 ideas that could lead to school and/or community events related to WRITING. They can be similar to
the ideas you’ve just explored, but as you write about your three ideas, make them
specific to YOUR school, neighborhood, or community.
Here are some questions to help you think further about this:
· Who would you get involved?
· How would you prepare for it?
· What funding might you need?
· Would your students, your colleagues, or your community like to make a video advocating for writing?
· Perhaps you could hold a community or family writing contest?
· Maybe writing a script and producing it for an October Family Literacy Night is a good choice.
· Writing Marathons are fun and can involve community members!
· Is there a community partner you could involve and interview about WHY THEY WRITE and make a podcast? There are so many possibilities!
Write your 3 ideas with enough detail specific to your local school or area that we can imagine each idea evolving into reality next October. You will submit your 3 ideas to Blackboard.
