Native American Literature

This week’s short response serves two purposes:
The first purpose is to help you prepare for your final essay by organizing and processing your thoughts about the material assigned for this week;
The second purpose is to help you develop and draft your intervention into the critical conversation these essays represent.
To accomplish those purposes, work through the following directions:
First, briefly summarize the argument and core claim of each of the essays assigned this week:
Beth Piatote, “No Spoiler Alerts”
James Cox, “Orange Has Company”
Chadwick Allen, “Propulsive Energies”
Matt Cohen, “Hacking Colonialism”
Stephen Ross and Steven B. Sexton, “Digital Tribalography”
Second, now that you have focused on each essay individually, briefly explain the conversation these essays are having. How would you state and summarize the central thread of this conversation without simply saying There There?
Finally, revisit the templates from “Entering Conversations about Literature. Download Entering Conversations about Literature.” Using a template appropriate for introducing multiple perspectives about the text, write a brief paragraph (+/- 150 words) in which you introduce the conversation and explain your tentative argument in response to that conversation.
