Nature of research in IDT

An explanation of the distinguishing characteristics of ITDE or Curriculum and Teaching research.
High quality research has a number of characteristics, including a theory base, rigor, generalizability and, often, an applied nature. How are these manifested in research conducted in the fields of instructional technology and distance education? Consider, too, the historical shortcomings of research in ITDE and Curriculum and Teaching, and how they may be addressed and overcome. (3 pages or less double-spaced)
Papers for assignments 1a, 1b, and 1c should be no more than three pages in length double spaced, and will draw on assigned readings, class presentations, and additional sources identified by the instructor and the student. Each paper will include at least one graphic (photograph, diagram, table, chart, etc.) that helps explain (or elaborate on) the text of the paper. To earn full points, papers must address all specified elements, be well written, include an appropriate graphic, and have correctly cited sources.
