This discussion board has 2 parts:
Part 1:
– Explain the difference between reliability and validity regarding the quality of assessment measure.
Part 2:
– Read the 3 chapters and the website to write the 2nd part. The readings are: Billings, D. M., & Halstead, J. A. (2019). Teaching in nursing: A guide for faculty. (6th ed.).St. Louis: Elsevier.
Chapter 23 (Introduction to the Evaluation Process).
Oermann, M. H., & Gaberson, K. B. (2019). Evaluation and testing in nursing education. (6th ed.). New York, NY: Springer Publishing.
Chapters 1 and 2 (Assessment and the Educational Process and Qualities of Effective Assessment Procedures), and the website:
Classroom and Learning Assessment Techniques. Iowa State University. (https://www.celt.iastate.edu/instructional-strategies/evaluating-teaching/classroom-assessment-techniques-quick-strategies-to-check-student-learning-in-class/) and briefly summarize what you have learned and then write a reaction to the 3 chapters and website readings.
Divide this in 2 parts: Summary and Reaction.
Read the assigned readings, and briefly summarize what the chapters are about and what can be learned from it. Please use those chapters and website to write the 1st part (Summary).
The following information gives you good advice for creating your Summary:
– To summarize is only to say what the content said but in your own words and style. Your summary does not need to be a detailed step-by-step of every little point; rather, a good summary that shows discernment by focusing on relevant content that furthered your thinking.
• While you might occasionally want to quote straight from a reading (using quote marks, of course, to identify the lifted material), most of your summary should be in your own words. Copying word-for-word from a source will not be accepted.
• If an individual reading assignment requires you to read/view more than one item, then your summary can synthesize those items. Connect the ideas across readings or other content together, but be very clear about which source you are referring to (Example: The video by Ragan said . . . . This is similar to the article that we had to read by Owen because . . . .).
The following information gives advice for creating the Reaction part:
-There are several ways to create depth, substance, and specificity within reactions. These bullets are suggestions (you do not need to respond to every bullet prompt – these are only here to give you an idea of how to get started):
• You can react intellectually by sharing your thoughts about the content being discussed (what caught your attention, what was interesting, what did you consider was effective and what was not, and why?)
• You will also need to add something new to the discussions with 2 new references to show evidence for what you are adding
• What questions do you have about content? How would you answer yourself? This needs to be at the reaction
• How does the required content connect to other content from beyond this course about good teaching, in general, or online teaching, in particular? Any reaction that brings in broader content that you have considered is helping you build a mental model of how all teaching fits (or not) together.
• What personal anecdotes have you had as a teacher or student that fit with (or contradict) the content? Analyze those anecdotes.
Also, it needs to be added something new to the discussions with a reference to show evidence for what you are adding. The new information needs to be something that was not in the readings, adding to or expanding the discussion (this can be a statement or two about a new teaching/learning strategy, tool, assessment, evaluation, or further evidence related to the content being discussed….).
The summary and reflection needs to reflect integration of required readings and supporting the key issues and topics of material. It discusses your reaction to the content and high level analysis. Cited appropriately in the post using APA.
