Your literature review should be 8–10 pages long with the following guidelines:
• Page 1 should be the title page, formatted using APA style (not counted toward the 8–10 pages).
• Page 2 should be the abstract page (should not exceed one page). This is a summary of your literature review. Generally speaking, abstracts range from 150–200 words in length.
• Pages 3 through 10 (approximately) should contain the body of the paper and include:
– Introduction section that provides background information and discusses the significance of the disorder about which you are reviewing (usually 1–2 pages)
– Methods section that includes information, such as the key words used to find articles on your topic, search strategies you found most useful, and databases that provided the most or best citations. In other words, if others were to do a literature review on this topic, what suggestions would you give them to conduct the most thorough search possible in the most efficient way? (up to 1 page)
– Results section that is the bulk of the literature review. It may be helpful to divide this section into subsections. Please include DSM information about the disorder in this section as well as other aspects of the disorder that you’ve summarized from your literature search (for example, effective treatments). This section should be approximately 4–5 pages.
– Discussion section in which you provide recommendations for future research and study (usually 1–2 pages).
