Your essay should have a THESIS statement with a what and a how that
clearly outlines the argument you would like to make about your text in
relation to the topic.
Your Thesis Statement should pass the so what? test.
Your analysis should include (selective) elements of Literary Critical Theory that
you feel are applicable to developing your topic/thesis.
You WILL need to complete and submit an outline as part of the evaluation
REMEMBER to keep the outline BRIEF and in point form.
All essay main body paragraphs must follow the same structure:
Main body topic sentence that states one sub-thesis
Context given before the quotation
Quotations with embedded citations
Analysis that clearly states HOW each quotation supports your
thesis/sub-thesis
Concluding or transitional sentences
A typed draft of your essay must be submitted for Peer Editing
Peer Editing Date: Wednesday June 9
1200-1500 word count.
Use formal academic language and transitions to make your essay flow.
