Descriiption
This assessment has two parts: Part 1 involves is a written project / report that is worth 15% of the total grade. Part 2 is worth 10% of the total grade. Assessment focuses on CLOs 3, 4 and 5 and focuses on applying the course concepts of organizational behavior, organization assessment, benchmarking and redesign of organizations to enhance quality and effectiveness. You are expected to build a case study of either and internal or external system or a relevant innovation (there is flexibility on this) and apply the relevant course concepts.
Goal
The goal of this assignment is to provide you with the opportunity to understand and apply the main concepts of healthcare organizations, understanding about culture and behavior, and best practices for assessment, benchmarking, and quality improvement, and actions and strategies to redesign and to enhance processes and impact.
Outcomes:
Outcomes of this assessment consist of a written case analysis identifying organizational culture, organizational behavior, assessment, and benchmarking processes, and suggested redesign and management practices and strategies. An oral presentation of the case analysis will be conducted in class.
Instructions:
You can do this project individually if you want or you can do this in a group of 2 students at the most. You are to select a system or process that will be impacted by the implementation of a new health information system or some other type of relevant innovation (that you select); that is, from internal or external sources that will change and improve a healthcare organization. Create a case study report which addresses the following:
1. Use scholarly references as needed, comply with APA requirements, and discus the potential impact of organizational behavior on the implementation of your chosen system or innovation focusing on the following:
Organizational culture
Organizational structure
Team characteristics and diversity
Individual abilities and skills
Impact on individual outcomes: job performance and organizational commitment
Management style, communication, strategies, and best practices.
2. Describe your design and use of assessment and benchmarking as a tool for measuring progress and promoting quality improvement.
3. Evaluate and explain the need for (a) redesign of a system or process or situation and (b) how you would use management strategies and best practices to facilitate effective implementation of the new health information system or relevant innovation.
4. Write a case study report with minimum of 5 references to illustrate the above elements. Prepare a PowerPoint presentation summarizing your case study and each of the steps.
5. For a group of 2 students, it should be from 8 to 10 well written double-spaced pages.
6. You can use 2 tables and 1 graph in the report if you want to help you summarize. You can use 1 picture if it will help illustrate the innovation.
7. There should be no large gaps between paragraphs. Only a double space between paragraphs or sections. Make the body of text size 12 and new times roman. Make the headings for different sections Arial font and bold size 12.
8. Include a cover page with your names; provide a list of references on last page (do not use automatic references tool!). You must type in all your references and they must be appropriate based on APA style.
